Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni

Bellagio Steps, Lake Como, Italy

I planned this Lake Como trip really last minute... like two weeks before we left. So it was lucky that I was still able to find a room available at the gorgeous Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni in Bellagio. It is conveniently located right next to the Bellagio ferry stop. When we arrived, we were given a beautiful room with a small terrace looking out over the lake.

Since we were there in mid-September, it was still supposed to feel summery and warm. I had envisioned days hanging by the pool and jumping off the diving board into the lake like JFK who stayed here back in the 1960s.

Unfortunately, this crazy Siberian cold front blew through Europe, bringing snow to us in Switzerland (see here) and much cooler, windier weather to Lake Como. Luckily it still looked sunny, but it was way too cold for swimming or taking a leisurely private boat ride like I had planned.

There were still several hotel amenities to enjoy including a beautiful buffet breakfast each morning in the grand ballroom, a dip in the indoor heated pool and spa, a walk in the gardens, and an evening meal at their Michelin star Mistral Restaurant.
