Krabi Beach Activities

Oh Thailand beaches, is there anything better? Well maybe having them all to myself. There is no doubt that these beaches are popular with the many tourists who come by boat to visit these gorgeous, white sand treasures. The two main public beaches in Krabi are Railay Beach and Phra Nang beach. Both beaches are worth visiting and I've outlined what to do and where to eat below. Enjoy!

Railay Beach

Things to do:

  • Grab a spot to lay out on the beach.
  • Snorkel in the crystal clear waters (equipment available to rent).
  • Rent a longtail boat tour to the Phi Phi islands.
  • Shop the markets along the Walking Street.
  • Rent a kayak to explore the caves under the limestone formations.
  • Sign up for a rock climbing or hiking trip to see epic views of Krabi from the top of the limestone cliffs.
  • Keep your eyes open for monkeys swinging from the trees.
  • Sign up for a scuba diving trip to explore some of Thailand's most epic dive spots. If you see a turtle, I will be so jealous!

Where to eat:

  • The first Walking Street restaurant is my favorite with great views, pad thai served in a hollowed out pineapple, flatbread pizzas for that taste of home, and chilled coconuts, Mai Tais, Thai iced teas,  and Chang beers from the bar for cheaper than anywhere else on the beach.
  • Rayavadee's classy beach front Raitalay Terrace for a variety of popular international dishes.
  • There are a couple of other resorts on Railay beach with their own beachfront restaurants.

Phra Nang Beach

Things to do:

  • Rent a kayak to explore the natural caves under the limestone cliffs or make your way around to Railay beach.
  • Visit the fertility temple in the Princess cave where you'll see no shortage of phallus shaped offerings.
  • Rent a long tail tour to the Phi Phi islands.
  • Watch the sun set over the water behind the stunning limestone formations.

Where to eat:

  • Rayavadee's The Grotto is a beach front restaurant set back in a shallow cave. Come here for fresh squeezed juices and standard lunch options, or for a romantic barbecue dinner after the sun sets.
  • Rayavadee's Krua Phranang restaurant, a romantic Thai restaurant set just above the beach.
